Cold Noses Warm Hearts Dog Training's motto is “Teach me to be the dog you want”. A strong, positive relationship between you and your dog is how to accomplish this. A dog will work with you because they choose to be with you. Science and behavior based positive reinforcement are our tools. I am certified as CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed) with the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers.
I am a CNWI (Certified Nose Work Instructor) with NACSW™ (National Association of Canine Scent Work). NACSW was the original organization that created Nose work/scent work as an activity/sport for dogs.
I grew up with dogs and have always shared my life with at least one. I am a cross-over trainer, having taught obedience classes in the 1990’s. I have participated in multiple canine sports, and am currently involved in K9 Nose Work and IPG (formally known as Schutzhund) sport. There are three phases in IPO, obedience, tracking and protection.
I’ve been involved in Animal Assisted therapy/Intervention and Animal Assisted Crisis Response as certified canine/human team, evaluator, mentor and trainer since 2000. I retired as an evaluator in June of 2019. I currently do not have a working therapy dog, though I have had 3 GSD certified starting in 2000 until 2019. I've been training dogs and helping others train dogs since 1995.
